Labeled "Warren Haynes and Friends", the Allman Bros band came out to rock at this club gig on their day off from the March Beacon run with Come and Go Blues and Jessica. I shot this from roughly the 5th 'row'. Derek and Warren smoke!
17 years ago today - 2nd set opener Box goes into Victim after a little Take a Step Back instruction from Phil. We were wet, but the band was hot! A truly wet night in that bathtub known as RFK. "the rain is fallin from a heavy sky-eyeyeyeye"Thick rain, too. Yet a great show, as Dark Star appeared after Foolish Heart.
My footage from the first and last Home Run Derby at Yankee Stadium in its final season, with the nice Bobby Murcer tribute, various baloney, good bleacher creature vocals, boos of Ortiz, Boston sucks, a-hole,etc, and of course the Josh Hamilton explosion of 9,446 home runs in the first round.
Salieri gets a look at some original compositions of Mozart, shown to him by Mozart's wife. And he is simply astounded. A brilliant scene from a Best Picture Winner.
Whipping Post from this night during the annual Beacon run. I shot this from the 3rd row. Theres a bit of shaking in the first 30 seconds as I had to get to an unimpeded spot. It is also cut in 2 places to fit the youtube 10minute max. Derek just shined and tore up this version. He absolutely scorched it and was smoking this night.
Jerry is clearly into it this night, head rockin and all, as shown in this very nice version of Althea- video and audio straight off the original recording. No overdub.
The end of Dew goes into the closer from this great rainy night at Giants Stadium. A tremendously good time was had by all players here as members of the Nevilles joined them for the back end of this 2nd set. Jerry is simply having a blast, Billy tossing drumsticks, everyone smiling and happy. And the tune is quite well done.
Just a dreeeeeeeeeam
The last encore of the night (followed Terrapin and Sat Night) that closed a great show and sounds spectacular.
Jerrys voice sounds phenomenal, as well as that wicked slide guitar.
Mick Taylor sits in for some of this first set, which gets this Little Red Rooster to absolutely cook! The guitars just blaze, Brent does some great howling, and everyone is on the money.
Rare occurence as Jerry plays the pedal steel oh so sweetly as they do Dylan's Tomorrow Is A Long Time at Giants Stadium. This was the summer tour where Dylan joined them, and the only time they played this song of his.
