Veteran CBS Broadcaster Douglas Edwards anchored his last newscast on Friday, April 1, 1988, a two minute newsbreak. He joined CBS Radio in 1942 and anchored the CBS Evening News on TV before Walter Cronkite. He died in 1990 at age 73.

On August 11, 1986, The Big 6-10, KFRC in San Francisco dropped the top 40 format that had catapulted it into the #1 position in the Bay Area for more than a decade. This tribute, from KXTV, News10, in Sacramento, aired three days earlier, on Aug. 8, as the KFRC personalities said their final farewells.
KXTV, Channel 10, Sacramento was the "Eyewitness News" station for the Sacramento market from the late 1970's until 1983 when it was rebranded as "News 10." This aircheck is from the winter of 1981 when a severe storm hit Northern California. Jennifer Smith and Bob Burton were the anchors, Dan Adams was the reporter. Smith and Adams are still with the station some 27 years later.

Jerry Jensen, a popular news anchor at KGO-TV San Francisco, died March 26, 1984. This is the on air memorial his longtime co-anchor Van Amburg presented on the 6:00 news that night, the newscast they had co-anchored for more than a decade.
